Vague and nebulous words no substitute for action - Laws12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 10th Oct 2005
Commenting on the publication of Principles for Welfare Reform by David Blunkett, Shadow Liberal Democrat Work and Pensions Secretary, David Laws MP said: "After eight years in power, why is Mr Blunkett giving us this vague and nebulous set of principles? "This jumble of statements avoids any recognition of the damage to work and savings incentives caused by Labour policies. It lacks a clear direction and must not be a substitute for action. "The big challenges ahead of us - on pension reform, on sorting out the chaos of the tax credit system and the CSA, and on helping those on disability benefits into work - require action, not more words."
