Boost for special needs students5.51.44pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 22nd Mar 2007 A newly-refurbished centre to provide sixth form facilities for students with learning difficulties has opened at a Cambridgeshire college. The site, at Impington Village College, aims to provide a bridge between school and working life for students. It will cater for students on the Ideal course (Independence, Decision-making, Enterprise, Access to Employment and Leisure and Learning skills). The £50,000 work includes a wheelchair lift, a new classroom and computers. Simon Anderson, Ideal course manager, said: "There are not many opportunities open to post-16 students with special educational needs. We have students with a wide range of physical and educational disabilities and we aim to give them the best possible opportunity to learn."
