Thieves steal disabled boy's DVD9.29.53am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 10th Apr 2007 A mother has condemned thieves who stole a DVD player belonging to her blind and disabled four-year-old son from the family's car. "I don't think they have any morals at all," said Judith Broomfield, of Aylesford, Kent, mother of Jamie Bell. Registered blind Jamie was able to see the colours of the DVDs, which kept him occupied on car journeys when he could not see out of the windows. Kent Police said it was a "great shame" the machine had been stolen. Jamie has severe epilepsy and a skin condition which affects his brain. He is under the care of 35 doctors and sometimes has to travel to hospital three times a week. The DVD was stolen by thieves who smashed a window of the car, which has a disabled sticker, while it was parked outside the family's home. They had just returned from a 12-hour hospital visit and were too exhausted to empty the vehicle of valuables, although the player was hidden from view. "Every time we get in the car Jamie says can he watch something, so I don't think he understands it is gone forever," said his mother. A Kent Police spokeswoman said: "Police advice is never to leave items of value in your vehicle even it you have put them out of sight."
