Government must accept bill as amended - Lamb

11.28.09am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 16th Apr 2007

Commenting in advance of Monday's vote on the Mental Health Bill, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Health, Norman Lamb MP said:

"The Government should at long last listen to the overwhelming case put forward by the Mental Health Alliance and accept the bill as amended.

"It would be wholly unacceptable if the Government sought to force through the original bill without proper safeguards in place; it would be contrary to the interests and rights of people with mental health problems and would not be in the public interest."
