Jail threat for £23,000 fraudster

A Carlisle woman who falsely claimed £23,000 in disability benefits has been warned she faces jail.

Sonya Kennedy earned up to £400-a-week working as a door-to-door saleswoman while pretending to be severely disabled and unemployed.

The 44-year-old, of Welsh Road, Harraby, pleaded guilty to seven charges of benefit fraud at Carlisle Crown Court.

She was bailed and will be sentenced on 2 May.
