A new document to help disabled people in the Isle of Man find employment has been published by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The document explains the role and aims of the Disability Employment Service (DES) and also tells users how to find work via the organisation.

Advisors from the service also help firms recruit people with disabilities. Copies of the document can be obtained from the DTI offices in Peel Road, Douglas, and also from its website. In February 2008, the service helped 12 of its 240 active users find jobs.

The Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon David Cretney MHK, said: "I am delighted with the success of the team so far and we look forward to assisting even more clients in the future. One of the aims of the Government's Strategic Plan is to expand the range of appropriate employment opportunities for people with a disability to include vocational training, job placements, voluntary community work and permanent employment."
