Help sought for Ben Nevis climb12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 3rd Apr 2008 Two leading disability charities are looking for volunteers with mountain rescue experience to help with an event taking place on Ben Nevis. The challenge will involve teams of disabled and non-disabled people working together to conquer Britain's highest peak. Each team will be led by a wheelchair user, who will be in charge of navigating their team up to the summit. They are looking for people with first aid or mountain qualifications. Duties will range from accompanying teams as they climb Ben Nevis or being positioned at different stages on the mountain, monitoring progress. The event will be held on 31 May. Ann Ward, fundraising manager at Capability Scotland and Clare Furnival, events fundraiser at Scope said: "This is a great opportunity to help out at a once-in-a-lifetime event. If you've got some spare time on that day and would like to give us a hand, then we'd love to hear from you."
