Blinded cadet's reduced cash

14 Mar 2008

An Army cadet blinded in an IRA bombing in west London has been compensated only for the loss of one eye because he was already partially sighted.

Stephen Menary was just 14 when he was caught up in the blast in White City in 2001. He lost his left hand and ear, and lost the sight of his good eye.

Now 21, he will receive £22,000 instead of £110,000 for being totally blind.
