Holiday bus service may be saved

13 Feb 2008

Proposals to axe a holiday bus service for groups with disabilities in Nottinghamshire may be abandoned after protests by supporters.

Handybus enables the groups to hire out a coach at a subsidised rate. The county council considered scrapping the service by the end of March as a cost-cutting measure but protestors organised petitions against the move.

The authority now hopes to find extra funding to keep the project going and a decision is due in the next few weeks
