People need mental health relief, not just a short-lived headline
Responding to reports that the Government is set to open new ‘lifeline’ mental health centres and that those in mental health crises will be given specialist care in dedicated mental health emergency departments, Liberal Democrat Mental Health Spokesperson, Danny Chambers MP, said:
"People deserve real mental health relief rather than short-lived headlines. Less than a quarter of constituencies will have a centre, and people’s ability to access support should not be based on a postcode lottery.
"From my experience as a vet, I know the profound mental health challenges facing our rural communities and farmers - and I'm deeply concerned this investment may be concentrated only on major urban centres.
"After years of Liberal Democrat campaigning for walk-in mental health hubs and additional support, we will hold the Government’s feet to the fire and ensure this announcement does not become another hollow promise.”
