Railway station access modernised

25 Apr 2008

Disabled access is to be improved at eight railway stations in Oxfordshire.

Rail operator First Great Western has joined with the county council to carry out the £300,000 project which includes ramped platforms and handrails.

The work will be partly financed by the "Access for All" scheme, aimed at improving accessibility at railway stations across the UK.

The stations are: Appleford, Charlbury, Culham, Didcot Parkway, Oxford, Henley-on-Thames, Kingham and Shiplake.
