Huge jump in the use of drugs over 6 for children with ADHD.

There has been a 50% rise in England in the use of drugs for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in six years. NHS prescriptions for methylphenidate drugs, including Ritalin, rose from 420,000 in 2007 to 657,000 last year, the Care Quality Commission said. The watchdog warned health workers to "carefully monitor" their use as they have the potential to be "abused". The drugs are one of a number linked to the "smart-drug" craze, where students take medication to help them focus.

Scans in pre-school children show up Dyslexia

Brain scans may allow detection of dyslexia in pre-school children even before they start to read, say researchers. A US team found tell-tale signs on scans that have already been seen in adults with the condition. And these brain differences could be a cause rather than a consequence of dyslexia - something unknown until now - the Journal of Neuroscience reports. Scans could allow early diagnosis and intervention, experts hope. The part of the brain affected is called the arcuate fasciculus.

False reading worry, leads to Glucose testing strips being recalled

More than 1.7 million blood glucose testing strips are being recalled. They are GlucoMen LX Sensor blood glucose test strips for use with the GlucoMen LX and GlucoMen LX PLUS blood glucose meter. The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency said the strips should not be used because they could give inaccurate results, leading to a patient injecting too much insulin.

Theresa May MP Reveals She Has Type 1 Diabetes

This is just yet more proof that disability and/or chronic illness can happen to anyone at any time. Not sure about calling her 'courageous' for not stepping down from politics. Personally I don't see why she should step down if her health allows her to continue working.
