Gaps in learning disability care

Support for people with learning disabilities in Wales is fragmented, leaving some living far away from their families, according to a new report. The Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) review said there were major gaps in the system, especially at school leaving age.

Parking plea to blue badge cars

Drivers with disabled badges in Derby are being asked to use their privileges responsibly in the run up to Christmas. Traffic wardens said blue badge holders had been parking - legally - on double yellow lines around the new Westfield shopping centre.

Patients hit by matrons shortfall

The government has missed its target to recruit 2,500 community matrons to care for people with long-term conditions such as diabetes and asthma. The highly-trained nurses' care was intended to stop patients yo-yoing between GPs and hospitals in England.
