Plans to cut discounts given to disabled people receiving care in later life have been announced in Dorset. It is one of many options being considered by the county council for social care, along with changes to the way people pay for care and transport offered to those being cared for.

"Time to Change" gets £20 million more from the Government

A campaign that aims to tackle the stigma around mental health has been given £20m in funding from the Department of Health, Comic Relief and the Big Lottery Fund. The Time To Change initiative, run by charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, works with schools, employers and local communities to reduce discrimination and raise awareness.

Chronically ill claimants, won't face repeated ESA assessments

Tens of thousands of people claiming the main benefit for long-term sickness will no longer face repeated medical assessments to keep their payments. Work and Pensions Secretary Damian Green said it was pointless to re-test recipients of Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) with severe conditions and no prospect of getting better.
